Kennedy Center Israel Room
Location: Washington, DC
Type: Proposal
What if we created an alphabet for design?
The proposal for the Israeli Lounge at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts is designed around a series of activations. These activations are a reaction varying uses of the nation’s busiest performing arts facilities and are understood as three states: intermissions, dinners, and meetings.
To achieve this a set of flexible, module geometries were created to find a logical panelization of the walls, ceiling, furnitures, and portals in and out of the room. Similarly, with the goal of flexibility in mind the lighting of the space is designed to offer various lighting schemes to achieve a variety of settings to support the programs.
